At the beginning of the 1950s Mr. Petrus Johannes Hoeben (1921) started the business by transporting cattlefeed, making weekly deliveries to farmers and cattle breeders in the local region. He was frequently asked to transport their livestock to cattle shows and to pastures outside the local area. The demand for these activities rapidly increased and soon he had a full time job transporting cattle to markets and slaughterhouses.
In 1961 he founded 'Vervoeronderneming P.J. Hoeben P.V.B.A' based in Deken Dolstraat in Hamont. His partner was Mr. Jules Noten who possessed a transport operator's licence.
A few years later, Mr. Noten sold his shares in the company to Mr. Hoeben's oldest son - Mr. Adriaan Hoeben (1946 – 2003).
In 1974 the company purchased several larger trailers and the youngest son, Mr. Peter Hoeben (1956) joined the company.
In 1978 Mr. Hoeben retired leaving Peter and Adriaan to improve the business further. They decided to diversify their activities and began transporting general cargo both nationally and internationally - mainly to Germany.
Business expanded quickly and the need for more space meant larger premises were urgently required.
In 1981 they moved to their current site at Bosstraat in the industrial area of Hamont. Initially these premises consisted of a workshop and a small warehouse (1,000 m²). Over the next 15 years as business expanded the warehouse was increased to 15,000 m² including modern loading docks to improve efficiency.
At the beginning of the new millennium the third generation joined the firm. Will Hoeben (1979) specialised as security adviser and Ken Hoeben (1981) took control over the warehouse.
In 2001 the firm changed its name into 'Hoeben Transport N.V.'.
